Why we exist

Burnout isn’t a personal failure—it’s a signal.

The Gap Year Movement began with a simple question: What if you gave yourself permission to chase what truly sets your soul on fire? So many capable, conscientious people are running on empty—doing “all the right things” while feeling disconnected from their bodies, their relationships, and their sense of purpose.

We created a movement for adults who want to pause with intention—without blowing up their lives. Our work blends compassionate coaching, practical planning, and restorative experiences so you can recover from burnout and redesign a life that actually fits.

You don’t need more willpower. You need a plan that honors your energy, your values, and your season of life.

The Gap Year Movement

Whether your gap year is a true career break, a sabbatical, or a series of micro-resets, we help you build the structure and support to make change stick—so you can return to work and life with clarity, steadiness, and momentum.

What “gap year” means here

A Gap Year Movement gap year is a values-led reset—a season to recover, reflect, and rebuild your life architecture (time, money, habits, support) so your next chapter is sustainable.

Some members take a full sabbatical. Others redesign their schedule, boundaries, and well-being while staying employed. Either way, the goal is the same: less burnout, more alignment—and a life you don’t need to escape from.

“I came in exhausted and unsure what I wanted to do with my time. I left with a plan I could actually follow—and the first deep breath I’d taken in years.”
